Sue opened Fusek’s True Value Hardware in Downtown Indianapolis with her husband Steve, in 2004. Fusek’s is an urban, brick & mortar True Value Hardware store located in the historic Lockerbie neighborhood. Hardware is in Sue’s blood as great, great paternal grandfather opened a Hardware Store in the late 1800’s in Downtown Elkhart, IN which evolved into a Wholesale Industrial Supply Business that her father, EC Borneman III (Toby) owned. After graduating from DePauw University in Greencastle, IN, Sue chose a different path and had a long sales career in the Corrugated Packaging Industry in Chicago and then selling Residential Real Estate in Indianapolis. Today, Sue spends 100% of her time in the Hardware world running between the Downtown Store and the new location on East Washington Street on the East side of Indianapolis. In addition to the hardware, Sue and her husband Steve manage Two-time Indy 500 Champion, Takuma Sato. Sue coordinates all the travel for “Team TS” for the racing season which includes his team’s US travel and business affairs. When Sue isn’t in one of the Hardware Stores, she can be found at a Race track cheering for Takuma, on the golf course, or in her kitchen cooking and entertaining.
Steve's father, Ron, played a very important role in everything his son accomplished, including the opening of Fusek's True Value Hardware. Ron had always been very handy and the first to step up and take on any type of project that could possibly present itself to a homeowner.
Throughout Ron's entire life he was known as a teacher and a coach, and as a child to Steve these qualities were always present in his father. Steve remembers his father spending hours working on cars or projects around the house with all three of his children. Ron was always present to hold the light or offer a third hand if needed. Steve gained a tremendous amount of knowledge from his father throughout the years and also inherited his desires to do things right the first time.
Fusek's True Value Hardware was lucky enough to have Ron with them when they opened in June of 2004. He played a integral part in the success of the business and truly enjoyed helping and teaching each of his customers. He loved being a part of the family and that family included being a part of Fusek's True Value Harware. Ron passed away in January of 2006, though missed dearly, his memory lives on in his families hearts and his families store.
Steve's mother, Mary Fusek, has played an active role in the success of Fusek's True Value Hardware. Mary is an incredibly knowledgeable woman of hardware and really enjoys interacting with the customer's of Fusek's True Value.
Mary Fusek spends the majority of her time in Parker, Colorado with her two daughters families and her 6 grandchildren occupy most of her time these days. When she comes back to Indy every few months she will be the first one to greet you, as she is right back on the cash register with a smile on her face and a pleasant hello. Her family as well as Fusek's True Value Hardware love to have her in town.
I enjoy the fact that everyday and every customer is different. Different day, different projects.
I just want to help people with what they need, keep our store stocked and clean. And help other associates with anything I can. Mark is understanding, caring and a great listener!
